Super Bowl/Birthday Party food goodness!

The birthday boy is the biggest football fan (American football to clarify, being British and all!) and so for his birthday we all gathered at their house for good grub and games and drinks and The game.

Megan had made a wonderful array of goodies when we got there. We brought some wings from The Wing Company and then we did a joint effort on a cake.

Amazing cheese selection, with Italian, Asiago, Brie and Cheddar. There was roasted garlic, honey and super hot chilli paste for dipping and some sausage too. There is such an amazing relationship between a bold cheese and honey! Try it! She had some sliced baguette nearby if you wanted.

Veggies and dip.

Potato skins with cheese and bacon bits.

Smoked lime and tequila wings! I've seen them toss these wings in flour before they deep fry them, it really makes them super crispy and crunchy and they hold that crunch for a long time. They also heat back up well without drying out too much. The sauce is hot, and tangy and sweet, perfect combination in my mind.

There were also 'smokies', but because I wasn't eating one I got too engrossed in my own food and forgot to take a picture of them! Which is a shame. They were smoky venison sausages nestled into huge, crispy rolls, covered in onions and jalapenos and cheese then put in the oven to let the cheese melt! There were all sorts of things to go with them too like ketchup and garlic mayonnaise and mustard etc. They really were impressive. Apologies for the lack of photographic evidence.

And last but not least, the cake! Black Forest Gateau, well, a very good take on it and the twists made it that much better!

I'm going to give this cake an entry of it's own, I think it deserves it....
